Bowers & Wilkins new wireless headphones build on the success of the highly regarded P7, but with convenient, high-quality Bluetooth® aptX® streaming for an exceptional all-round mobile performance.
Bowers & Wilkins is proud to announce P7 Wireless, a set of professional-quality headphones that deliver pristine sound on the move with the added convenience of high-quality Bluetooth aptX wireless streaming. Building on the dual success of the original P7 and the award-winning P5 Wireless, with P7 Wireless everything is designed to allow you to lose yourself in music. Thanks to the acoustic advances made on the original P7 drive units, sound performance is a revelation: bass is tighter, vocals are more defined, and there’s a wonderful sense of space, balance and clarity across the whole frequency range. Plus, by using the same Bluetooth aptX technology that delivered fantastic results with P5 Wireless, P7 Wireless are capable of producing the best possible sound that your device, whether it is a smartphone, tablet or computer, is capable of delivering. P7 Wireless are simple to connect to a compatible device, and also feature intuitive controls on the right ear cup that allow users to not only play/pause and skip music, but also answer calls without fuss.
P7 Wireless’ rechargeable battery lasts a class-leading 17 hours before a charge is required, and thanks to a supplied USB cable, charging them from a computer is a breeze. If a cable is preferred to wireless listening, one is supplied in the box along with a padded carry case. With most headphones, sound quality is compromised by the way drive units are designed. To save space, the diaphragm must perform the dual role of sound generator and suspension system. But with P7 Bowers & Wilkins’ engineers have created a headphone driver that works more like the drive unit in a Hi-Fi speaker, with a diaphragm focussed purely on the job it’s supposed to do: generate sound.
The internal speaker baskets encasing P7 Wireless’s drive units are perforated with air vents covered witha resistive film. This unique design allows for precise control of the air flow from the back of the drive unit, resulting in a more uniform, piston-like movement. Plus, while the voice coils of most headphones are made from copper, P7 Wireless’s voice coil is constructed from a lighter aluminium-copper compound. The decrease in weight means that the drive unit can move more freely, improving high-frequency dynamics. P7 Wireless’s speaker baffle plates have been constructed such that they are heavily braced and tuned to make them very rigid and inert. This limits any resonances that might cause coloration. Finally, damping material inside the speaker enclosure helps control and dampen internal reflections, further reducing coloration and distortion. All of this means a drive unit with a more precise, controlled movement, capable of producing outstanding levels of performance.
P7 Wireless’s all-encompassing ear cushions use memory foam so while they provide noise isolation and high levels of comfort their dual-cavity construction helps the pads mould to the contours of the wearer’s head. This design maintains a consistent volume of air between the drive unit and the surface of the ear at both sides of the head. Not only is stereo imaging improved, but the sound is optimised for each listener. As with all Bowers & Wilkins headphones, no corners were cut in terms of build quality and choice of materials. Moving parts are constructed from brushed and stainless steel, as is the ingenious folding mechanism. The logo plates are crafted from brushed aluminium. The headband and ear pads are encased in luxuriously soft sheep leather, making them a delight to wear even for long listening sessions.
